The way Indian Muslims are discussed in all political debates and forums that one gets impression that Muslims are really a leading group in Indian politics, but the fact is exact opposite. We see somehow every issue gets underpinned in the name of minority only. However, Much chatter about this community in all these debates from all blocks, has never helped them in any way whatsoever. No productive work has been done to ensure the progress of Muslim community, even though there are so many self-proclaimed saviours, working day and night for them. Having so called true and loyal leaders from liberal Muslim community and secular Hindu community, Muslims rarely were able to find their voices in the parliament being heard in decades.
Muslims without a doubt are one of the most talked about community in political landscape, but only if they were able to get any benefit from these political projects happening on their name pan India. When it comes to actually deliver anything for this community, there is almost zero productive output that has came their way. Any issue that happens in India is somehow gets attached with Muslims in a negative way or positive way. When x,y,z, political party feels defeated or they need some uprising and political kick, they suddenly start propagating issues of Muslims. First they start for Muslims, then they talk about the national agenda, and they then talk about nationalism, and then they talk about how their party has been marginalised and then they finally talk about themselves. So it’s a pattern, make a starting argument from Muslim issues and then end up where your actual agenda lies. They try to take cover as hero and saviour of Muslims first, as it gives them a good start. This is something that is unique to Indian politics only, Where a side-lined community kind of gives you a required momentum to settle the score for your personal agenda.
If Muslim community constantly dominates almost all political discussions then the question is why nothing ever changes for them. From political perspective, Muslims are where as they were in 1947 and afterwards, unattended, abandoned, and struggling to get true representation. Compared to their population, there is almost no representation in parliament, no representation in government positions, no real growth economically and socially, boycotted and side-lined. If this is the current status of the community then how come one dares to even talk about Muslims, let alone becoming their leaders and saviours. Primarily, there are two blocks that comes to play the games in the name of Muslims, one group starts bashing Muslims, to invoke the hatred in Hindu hearts, to reach the required threshold in all elections, and then there is another group, who sees opportunity in this bashing to fit themselves as anti-bashing group. Not so surprisingly, both political blocks are dishonest to the Muslims to the top level.
From Kashmir to rest of India, Muslims have been ignored on large scale, in all their economic struggle, social struggle and political struggle, they are left alone. And not only they are left alone, as part of the agenda, they are kept in a situation purposely, where they can’t even think of political representation from their own community. If any of these groups were honest with Muslims then this community of 30-35 Crores Muslims would not have lived their life so miserably. On the other hand, The innocent Muslim masses keeps failing in realising that they have become the punching bag for everyone. They trust first group and then they get betrayed by them and then they trust another group and then they get betrayed by them too. but the unfortunate part is their long term memory is so short, that by the time election approaches after five years they forget the betrayal of first party so again they vote for them and this cycle keeps repeating itself and community never learns the lesson.
The dishonest scholars of Muslim society also adds the fuel to the fire, as they present the wrong people and wrong political situation as something very favourable for Muslims. They show the wrong picture and mislead their own masses for their individual benefit. They keep supporting certain groups portraying them as they are the real sympathizers of Muslims but in reality when time comes, those real sympathizer also fails Muslim as previous ones. As a result Muslims keep believing in wrong promises until they are betrayed again. The other part of Muslim problem is no leader and no group is quite successful in Muslim society to a level that they can represent all Muslim population across India with credibility and trustworthiness. There is no political party or group who can really accommodate the representation of Muslims from Kashmir to Bihar to Bengal to south India. No talk about proportional representation has taken centre stage in politics yet, this is why political suffering keeps repeating itself, and when you suffer politically, you suffer in all other domain as well.
