There has been a sensational development in the International politics after Saudi Arabia and Pakistan has signed a Défense pact together on Sep 17. This agreement says, aggression against one country will be considered as aggression against both. In other words, in any future conflicts of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan will come to safeguard them with their military might and Saudi will also do the same for Pakistan in case of war. In terms of it’s global implications, this is not an ordinary development in International Relations, as this deal is likely to threaten the dominations of many global powers in entire region. The biggest setback after this agreement is for none other than the United States, as America has long dominated the Défense sector of Middle East. Many gulf nations were entirely dependent on US for their safety and security in the past. However, after the Qatar attack by Israel, the way US failed to save Qatar, has made all Muslim nations to rethink their dependency on US as a reliable partner.
The Muslim world is looking for an strategic partner who has Défense expertise and a will, to save Muslim nations, This is why now they are showing trust on Pakistan over US. A country like Pakistan, who has been long considered as a nation of collapsing economy, is now able to lead a NATO like Muslim bloc, is quite a new phenomenon. As far as Pakistan’s own conflicts are concerned, it will be India who will have to calculate all the risks before starting any new war with Pakistan in the future. India will most likely try to avoid all the skirmish type of things with Pakistan now. However, if somehow both India and Pakistan engages in any huge future conflicts, it might throw entire region into wars and conflicts now. KSA-Pakistan agreement has some great religious implications too. As Saudi is home to Mecca and Medina also, which is most sacred place for Muslims, so now in any future aggression against holy places, it will be dealt by Pakistan’s military directly. This way the new custodian of holy Kaaba becomes the nation who no one thought coming, Pakistan.
Muslim countries are looking for another option other than US, who they can trust in the times of crisis, and that’s where Pakistan enters into the scene. Pakistan’s last war with India in May 2025, gave them an edge, as an advanced military power in the region. Being Nuclear power is also one among reasons why Pakistan is being acknowledged in this new Muslim bloc. There has been divisions among Muslim nations since long, so this move is being seen as much awaited political move, uniting all forces of Middle East in this shifting era of global politics. However, It’s a symbolic move as of now, which might not give results initially but it will surely influence major political events in upcoming years. Any country who wish to attack Saudi, for example, Israel will have to calculate the Pakistan’s military might first before attacking them. Similarly If Pakistan gets any threat for example from India then India will also think twice, as India will also not want a war that disturbs entire region.
